Preparing for Your Visit to Dovecote Veterinary Referrals

  • Most pets seen at Dovecote Referrals are admitted as day patients, though some pets will require an overnight stay or longer.
  • Please bring your current, up-to-date insurance policy details and a claim form signed by the policyholder. Direct claims can be considered and must be arranged prior to the appointment.
  • A veterinary surgeon will examine your pet and (in most cases) give them a sedative injection to pre-medicate the animal before anaesthetic (if applicable) and to make them feel more relaxed in the hospital kennel.
  • Clients are seen by appointment order. If you have any concerns or your pet seems distressed, please raise with the reception team.
  • Ensure we have all relevant contact numbers for the day.

On Departure

  • Call us between 4pm and 4:30pm on 01332 812500 to confirm your collection time unless advised otherwise.
  • At pick-up, the vet will review results, explain the procedure, and provide postoperative care instructions.

Your Pet’s Journey

We understand how worrying it can be when your pet is unwell. At our hospital, we are committed to keeping you informed and supporting you through this difficult time. Our expert consultant will thoroughly examine your pet, discuss possible causes, and explain the treatment options available. Together, we will decide on the best course of action and provide ongoing care to support your pet’s health.

Insurance and Payment

At our hospital, we aim to make payment and insurance matters as simple and stress-free as possible. If you have pet insurance, please bring a claim form to your appointment, and note that any excess will need to be settled during the consultation. Claim forms are completed free of charge and sent directly to your insurance company, usually within seven to 10 working days. Direct claims incur an administration fee of £21. For pets without insurance, full payment is required at the time of discharge, and we will provide an estimate before carrying out any procedures. Our team will ensure you are kept informed of all charges on your account.
