Neurology and Neurosurgery
Our Neurology and Neurosurgery department aims not only to provide the most up to date, state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment, but also helping both our patients and clients going through their moment of need positively.
Overview
Over the years, Dovecote Veterinary Referrals has become an important hub of neurological clinical research, arising from within the private referral sector in the UK.
Our team of Specialist Neurologists and Neurosurgeons are experts in providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for dogs and cats with neurological conditions. We provide 24 hours cover and counselling to referring vets in need of help.
State-of-the art diagnostics and imaging options enhance our abilities to diagnose difficult and complex diseases.
Our neurology-oriented specialised equipment includes a high-field 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, a CT scanner and the latest electrodiagnostic equipment. This potentiates our expertise and ensures gold-standard care from diagnosis to treatment and post-operative care.
We are able to identify and treat the vast majority of neurological presentations.
These include:
- Brain tumours
- Congenital spinal cord problems
- Epilepsy
- Hydrocephalus and brain malformations
- Infectious diseases of the nervous system
- Intervertebral disc disease
- Meningitis and meningoencephalitis of immunomediated or infectious origin
- Neuromuscular disorders (nerve, muscle and neuromuscular junction disease)
